Engineer - Forging & Valve Internals

Job Overview

We are seeking an Engineer specialized in Forging and Valve Internals to join our team. The role demands strong technical expertise in machining, fabrication, and vendor management associated with turbine generator (TG) components. The candidate will be responsible for process development, cost estimation, and vendor evaluation to ensure seamless project execution and quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and define machining and fabrication processes for TG components.
• Gain comprehensive knowledge of machine operations, welding techniques, and related technical areas.
• Interpret various technical documents such as blueprints, schematics, GFC drawings, and shop drawings.
• Understand design specifications, dimensions, materials, and construction methods to support engineering design and project planning.
• Calculate cost estimations including various operational and process costs.
• Apply knowledge of machining procedures, tooling, cutting parameters, and industry standards for cost evaluation.
• Identify, engage, and conduct technical and financial assessments of vendors; negotiate contracts and pricing.
• Manage work orders and purchase orders to ensure quality materials and timely delivery.
• Address vendor grievances and ensure compliance with standards while maintaining cost-efficiency.
• Collaborate with project and departmental teams to align outsourcing needs with business objectives.
• Monitor supplier performance and sustain strong vendor relationships.
• Stay informed of the market to leverage new outsourcing opportunities and advances in technology.
• Place purchase and service orders to vendors efficiently.
• Evaluate vendor capabilities, performance criteria, pricing, quality, timelines, and lifecycle costs for optimal vendor selection.

Skills and Qualifications

• Technical knowledge of machining, fabrication, and welding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and standards.
• Experience in cost estimation and negotiation related to manufacturing processes.
• Strong vendor management skills including evaluation, negotiation, and relationship management.
• Familiarity with purchase order and work order management.
