Role Overview

Armor Health is hiring a seasoned Employee Relations professional for a highly independent, fast-moving environment. This position is built for someone who is not just starting out in employee relations, but already has the experience to handle complex workplace matters on their own. The role includes managing investigations, advising leaders, running new hire orientation, and acting as a dependable HR resource for correctional healthcare leaders across several states.

Beyond resolving employee relations issues, this person will also drive HR learning programs for operational leaders. The goal is to strengthen management capability, lower organizational exposure, and create a more consistent approach to people management across all facilities.

The right candidate will be a strong investigator, a capable facilitator, and a trusted partner to business leaders. Comfort with independent work, sound decision-making, clear communication, and minimal supervision are essential.

Employee Relations and Investigations

  • Own employee relations cases from the first report through final resolution with very little oversight.
  • Handle difficult investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, conflict at work, policy breaches, ethics concerns, performance issues, and other sensitive matters.
  • Interview witnesses, assess credibility, review and organize evidence, write investigation findings, and support recommendations with clear reasoning.
  • Guide managers through employee issues, performance management, documentation, corrective steps, and challenging conversations.
  • Advise on discipline, including termination when appropriate, while keeping decisions fair, consistent, and legally compliant.
  • Spot patterns in employee relations cases and suggest preventive actions that improve engagement and reduce risk.
  • Conduct exit interviews and review feedback to uncover themes and improvement opportunities.

Leadership Development and HR Training

  • Design, coordinate, and deliver HR training for operational leaders throughout the company.
  • Take ownership of leader education by identifying training needs and providing practical guidance on employee relations, performance management, documentation, workplace investigations, leave administration, corrective action, and employment law.
  • Facilitate effective virtual and onsite sessions for Health Services Administrators, Directors of Nursing, Regional Vice Presidents, and other leaders.
  • Create and keep current standardized training content, leader toolkits, job aids, and reference materials.
  • Work with HR leadership to improve management effectiveness, increase consistency in HR practices, and build stronger leadership capability across sites.
  • Measure training impact and suggest ongoing improvements.

Leadership Partnership

  • Act as the main HR advisor for assigned correctional healthcare facilities.
  • Develop trusted relationships with operational leaders by giving practical, timely, business-oriented HR guidance.
  • Coordinate with Talent Acquisition, Employee Experience, Payroll, HRIS, and other HR teams to support a smooth employee journey.
  • Assist with organizational initiatives, leadership changes, and change management activities.

New Employee Orientation

  • Run virtual and onsite new employee orientation sessions for newly hired staff.
  • Present policies, benefits, expectations, and HR practices in a clear, professional, and engaging way.
  • Travel to current and new sites to help with onboarding, investigations, leadership support, and employee relations needs.

HR Operations

  • Prepare Employee Action Forms accurately and on time for hires, transfers, promotions, discipline, pay changes, and separations.
  • Keep employee files and employment records complete, accurate, and aligned with company standards.
  • Support internal audits and HR compliance work.
  • Assist with special assignments and organizational projects as needed.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws, including ADA, FMLA, FLSA, EEO, and other applicable rules.
  • Identify possible legal risk and work with HR leadership on the right response strategy.
  • Stay up to date on employment law and current HR best practices.
  • Help apply company policies consistently across all locations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong discretion and judgment when dealing with confidential employee matters.
  • Excellent skills in investigative interviewing, fact gathering, and documentation.
  • Ability to manage several high-priority employee relations cases at once without supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, plus solid facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Capability to influence leaders without having direct authority over them.
  • Good conflict resolution, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms, ideally Paylocity.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-changing, high-pressure environment while staying professional and composed.

Working Conditions

  • This is a remote role with about 5–10% travel, including occasional short-notice trips for investigations, leadership coaching, orientation, and operational needs.
  • There may be occasional evening or after-hours work to support a 24/7 healthcare setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods of sitting and computer work are expected.
  • Must be able to travel by car and commercial airline when needed.
  • Must be able to conduct onsite investigations, trainings, and meetings at correctional healthcare facilities.
