About Fabrica and the Role

Fabrica invites applications from two experienced and confident Duty Event Managers to join its freelance events team, operating primarily on-site in central Brighton. This role places you at the center of our venue's dynamic event operations, suitable for individuals who thrive on engaging with people, addressing challenges promptly, and facilitating outstanding event experiences.

Fabrica is a contemporary arts venue, housed within a beautiful Grade II* listed building in Brighton's historic Lanes. We offer diverse cultural programming including exhibitions, workshops, performances, festivals, and community activities, alongside a busy venue hire service for weddings, private parties, corporate occasions, and more.

Key Responsibilities

As a Duty Event Manager, you will oversee the on-shift coordination and seamless execution of a range of events such as weddings, cinema nights, concerts, art fairs, talks, and workshops. Your duties include managing freelance staff, contractors, bar operations, and client interactions to ensure events run safely, efficiently, and professionally. Acting as the primary contact during events, your focus will be delivering positive experiences for visitors and users of the venue.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

We seek candidates with background in events management, hospitality, or venue operations who are comfortable leading teams and managing bar activities. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a solid understanding of health and safety practices. Genuine enthusiasm for the arts and the nonprofit sector is highly valued.

Additional Details

This freelance position typically requires two to four shifts per month, including evenings and weekends. The hourly rate is £16.30, paid upon receipt of an accurate invoice. Selected applicants should ideally be available for paid wedding training shifts on 24th and 25th July.
