Role Overview

The Drafter in the Facades Division, located in Toronto, ON, specializes in unitized curtainwall systems. This role involves designing and drafting detailed architectural drawings for approvals, fabrication, and field installation phases. The drafter will create customized designs, produce comprehensive fabrication drawings with bills of materials, and collaborate across teams to ensure flawless project execution.

Responsibilities

• Draft and design detailed drawings for architectural approval, shop fabrication, and field installation.
• Create bespoke designs tailored for architectural proposals.
• Prepare complete fabrication drawings including bills of materials for each project.
• Utilize various curtain wall and architectural metal systems offered by Flynn.
• Identify and resolve both basic and complex detailing issues related to curtain walls and unitized curtainwall systems.
• Interpret architectural and structural drawings effectively.
• Proactively address and resolve curtain wall challenges during projects.
• Review specifications and provide input on potential project risks.
• Clarify and resolve outstanding drawing issues and contract ambiguities as needed.
• Demonstrate expertise in curtain wall and window systems and manage their shop drawings with input from team leads.
• Collaborate with Estimating, Project Managers, and Design/Construction teams to plan and execute projects.
• Understand building construction sequences to support project planning.
• Verify fabrication releases and perform any additional duties as required.

Requirements

• Prior experience in drafting unitized curtainwall systems is mandatory.
• Proficient use of AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Revit, Inventor, and Vault software considered significant advantages.
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Self-driven with excellent organizational skills and great attention to detail.
