Overview

Our client is a well-established international manufacturer specializing in highly engineered industrial equipment for customers throughout North America. They design and deliver intricate, tailor-made capital projects to industrial, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors. Due to ongoing expansion, they are looking to hire an experienced Director of Projects to lead their project execution division based in Alpharetta, GA.

Role Summary

This senior leadership role is accountable for managing the successful delivery of complex engineered-to-order projects from contract award through commissioning and final project closeout. The Director will oversee a team of Project Managers and work closely with departments including Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Sales to ensure projects meet safety standards, timelines, budget constraints, and profitability goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Project Managers handling major capital equipment projects.
  • Ensure consistent execution across all project aspects including scope, schedule, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and external contracted resources.
  • Supervise site services and installation teams supporting project delivery.
  • Act as the escalation point for significant customer and project issues at the executive level.
  • Collaborate with Finance to oversee project profitability, cash flow, forecasting, and manage change orders.
  • Enhance project management methodologies, reporting systems, governance, and key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales departments throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Promote a culture centered on accountability, effective communication, ongoing improvement, and execution excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience leading engineered-to-order, industrial manufacturing, or capital equipment projects.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and developing high-performing project management teams.
  • Strong expertise in contract administration, risk mitigation, project controls, and change order management.
  • Experience operating within complex manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills at the executive level and capability to maintain strong customer relationships.
