About the Role

The Director of Operations serves as the strategic leader for overall property operations and acts as the General Manager when needed. This position oversees multiple departments including Front Office, Retail/Gift Shops, Recreation/Fitness Center, Housekeeping, Security/Loss Prevention, Engineering/Maintenance, Food and Beverage/Culinary, and Event Management where applicable. The role collaborates closely with executive and department heads to develop, implement, and uphold operational strategies aligned with brand service standards and initiatives. The goal is to meet customer expectations, enhance employee satisfaction, increase revenues, and maximize financial performance.

Primary Responsibilities

Guide operations teams to focus on key operational aspects that enhance guest satisfaction and financial results.
Maintain a welcoming and service-focused atmosphere across all operational areas to enrich guest experiences.
Analyze financial reports to assess operational performance relative to budgets.
Oversee capital expenditure to ensure alignment with service strategy priorities.
Collaborate with department heads to identify challenges and implement solutions to improve financial outcomes.
Maintain profit margins while ensuring guest and employee satisfaction remain high.
Identify operational issues and drive initiatives to prevent recurrence.
Coach teams on effectively managing occupancy, rates, wages, and controllable costs.
Review wage progress reports, compare actual wages against budgets, and hold teams accountable for results.
Develop and execute an operational strategy aligned with the brand’s overall business objectives.
Communicate goals clearly to ensure continuous improvement in service performance and achievement of operational targets.
Support property leadership in delivering brand and regional initiatives and ensure consistent follow-up.
Engage with employees and guests regularly to gauge business needs and operational opportunities.
Establish and champion a clear vision for property product and service delivery among the leadership team.
Promote fair and equitable treatment of employees.
Provide feedback on service behaviors, conduct performance appraisals for direct reports, and uphold an open-door policy to address employee concerns.
Hire and support operations management team members with strong expertise and leadership qualities.
Encourage employee commitment to excellent service through daily interactions and modeling desired behaviors.

Candidate Profile

Minimum education: A two-year degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related field with at least 8 years of experience in management, operations, sales or marketing; or a four-year bachelor's degree in these fields with minimum 6 years relevant experience.
