About the Role
A leading semiconductor company in Limerick, Ireland is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to provide technical support for internal and remote employees to optimize productivity and improve user experience. The role encompasses troubleshooting, configuration, hardware/software installations, IT asset management, and hardware repair. Responsibilities also include setting up and deploying equipment for new hires, AV and printing assistance, maintaining IT infrastructure and security standards, and supporting ongoing IT projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, analyze, and resolve user-reported issues efficiently.
- Manage incidents related to software applications, operating systems, and hardware.
- Perform system health checks ensuring compliance with software and security policies.
- Track and prioritize support tickets, providing documented resolutions.
- Build and set up new computers, including OS image creation and deployment.
- Deliver user training and advice to enhance computer operation and address difficulties.
- Escalate urgent matters promptly to comply with service level agreements.
- Identify repetitive problems and develop automated processes when feasible.
- Manage software and hardware installations along with inventory and licensing.
- Evaluate current processes and systems, suggesting improvements to boost efficiency and user experience.
- Maintain site IT operations and provide audiovisual support.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in a desktop or technical support role; A+ certification is required.
- Practical experience with Windows, Office 365, iOS, Android, and Mac OS platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting ability with attention to detail and capability to multitask effectively.
- Familiarity with IT customer service delivery, ticket tracking systems, and knowledge bases.
- Customer-focused mindset with high self-motivation and accountability.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment without supervision.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with site leadership and stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the semiconductor industry is advantageous.
- Microsoft MCP certification would be beneficial.
Additional Information
- This is an onsite position based in Limerick, Ireland, requiring attendance five days per week.
- The hourly pay ranges from 20 to 25 USD depending on qualifications and years of experience.
