About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned APS6 Data Analyst to join a Federal Government agency focused on delivering impactful data solutions that underpin vital national services. The role involves designing and managing enterprise data assets, analyzing complex datasets, and transforming business needs into effective technical implementations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise-wide data products and assets.
- Examine, profile, and validate multifaceted data from diverse sources.
- Convert business requirements into coded data transformation workflows.
- Create prototypes and innovative data products aligned with business goals.
- Conduct thorough data quality evaluations, testing, and resolve defects.
- Communicate technical concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Improve code quality and documentation; share knowledge collaboratively within the team.
- Mentor junior colleagues and actively participate in team problem-solving.
Candidate Profile
- Proven extensive experience analyzing large, complex datasets.
- Proficient programming skills in SQL plus at least one of Python, SAS, or R.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) systems.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data pipeline design, and reporting platform architecture.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions effectively.
- Capable of working autonomously while juggling multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Skilled in fostering productive relationships with business and technical stakeholders.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Exposure to Snowflake or other cloud data platforms.
- Experience with SAS Viya.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
- Enthusiasm for learning emerging analytics platforms and technologies.
Additional Information
- This position is a 12-month contract initially, with an option to extend for an additional 12 months.
- Location options include Sydney, Melbourne, or Canberra with hybrid working arrangements.
