Job description

Role Overview

This position is for a Customer Delivery Driver based in Broadstairs, serving as a representative of Tesco by delivering groceries directly to customers’ homes. Beyond just driving, the role emphasizes customer service, with tasks involving loading, delivering, and effectively communicating with customers in a friendly manner.

Working Hours

  • Monday: 06:00 - 23:00
  • Tuesday: 06:00 - 23:00
  • Thursday: 06:00 - 23:00
  • Saturday: 06:00 - 23:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and order of the van, trays, and workspace ensuring products arrive in excellent condition.
  • Safely load the delivery vehicle and perform checks to confirm it is roadworthy and well-prepared.
  • Communicate any order updates or substitutions clearly and courteously to customers, offering refunds when appropriate.
  • Handle deliveries with care, treating each order with the utmost responsibility to uphold quality and customer trust.
  • Deliver orders within scheduled timeframes while providing warm, personal service to customers at their doorstep.

Candidate Requirements

  • Hold a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence (full or automatic) with at least one year of possession and no more than three penalty points.
  • Exhibit friendly and welcoming behavior towards customers and colleagues, fostering positive relationships.
  • Adapt swiftly to changes in customer needs and workplace conditions while working both independently and within a team.

  • Starting pay rate of £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 per hour for certain locations within the M25; additional payments may be offered in some areas.
