Role overview
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is looking for a committed, enthusiastic CT Radiographer to join the Radiology Directorate in a full-time Band 6 role. The post is based in Cwmbrân, Wales, and sits within a busy CT service that runs around the clock, seven days a week, using two Canon Aquilion One Prism CT scanners for both inpatient and outpatient work.
This position suits an HCPC-registered radiographer with strong radiography experience who can contribute to clinical quality, service organisation, and team leadership. The successful candidate will be expected to work well with colleagues, communicate clearly, and deliver CT examinations to a high standard. A willingness to teach and support learners in the clinical setting is important, as the department hosts undergraduate radiography students and expects senior staff to play an active role in their supervision and training.
After the induction period, you will be expected to take part in the 24-hour shift rota. Rotation to other CT departments within the Health Board may also be required. Training posts under Annex 21 will also be considered.
Main duties
- Oversee, coordinate, and take part in the delivery of the CT radiology service.
- Work the 24-hour CT rota when required.
- Ensure imaging is produced to a high standard in a professional, efficient, and compassionate way.
- Support the Radiology CT/MRI Lead in running the service.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of radiographic techniques and equipment.
- Perform intravenous cannulation and injections when trained and required by the department.
- Communicate effectively with patients and staff, offering technical and professional guidance where needed.
- Contribute to the learning of others and provide teaching and advisory support to qualified colleagues.
Experience and qualification requirements
Applicants should have experience across a broad range of radiographic techniques. Experience in a specialist area is desirable. The essential education requirement is a DCR or BSc in Radiography, and further education or additional qualifications would be an advantage. Candidates must be HCPC registered radiographers with significant relevant experience.

Successful interview candidates will receive a conditional offer and an information pack by email. The vacancy may be closed early, and it may also be withdrawn if filled through internal redeployment.
ABUHB supports flexible working. Smoking is prohibited on all Health Board sites, which are smoke-free by law. This applies to staff, contractors, patients, and visitors. Support for quitting smoking is available through the Help Me Quit Team.

Additional notes
The organisation states that English and Welsh speakers are equally welcome, although the ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. After induction, participation in the 24-hour shift system is expected, and rotation to other CT departments may be necessary.
