Role Overview

This full-time, on-site position based in Abu Dhabi involves managing and analyzing production and operational expenses related to the roastery and café operations. The Cost Accountant will monitor raw material, labor, and overhead costs, generate and scrutinize detailed cost reports, assist in pricing strategy, reconcile inventory discrepancies, and aid month-end closing through precise journal entries and cost distribution. You will work closely with finance and operations personnel to ensure accurate costing data, contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts, and identify opportunities for enhanced profitability and operational efficiency. The role also includes maintaining strong internal controls, supporting audit processes, and recommending improvements for cost management.

Responsibilities

• Track and analyze cost elements including production, labor, raw materials, and overhead.
• Prepare and review detailed cost reports to support financial decision-making.
• Assist in determining pricing by providing accurate cost insights.
• Perform inventory reconciliations and investigate cost variances.
• Support month-end close by journalizing entries and allocating costs appropriately.
• Collaborate with finance and operational teams to maintain reliable cost data.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting related to cost control and efficiency.
• Ensure internal control procedures are followed and support audit activities.
• Advise on process enhancements to improve cost accuracy and reduce expenses.

Requirements

• Proven experience in cost accounting with a focus on inventory and production cost analysis.
• Ability to prepare and communicate financial statements clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong analytical abilities to identify trends, variances, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Firm grasp of accounting processes, including journal entries, month-end closing, and reconciliations.
• Relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline.
• Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet tools with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to facilitate teamwork across various departments.
• Previous experience in food and beverage, manufacturing, or retail sectors is advantageous.
• Commitment to ethical financial practices and adherence to applicable accounting standards.
