Consultant Infectious Disease Specialist - Sharjah

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and committed Consultant Infectious Disease specialist to join a premier healthcare institution in Sharjah. The chosen professional will be responsible for delivering expert clinical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases. This role calls for active collaboration within multidisciplinary teams to uphold superior patient safety and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage diagnosis and treatment for a broad spectrum of infectious diseases in both inpatient and outpatient contexts.
• Take the clinical lead for complicated cases such as sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, and viral hepatitis.
• Offer expert guidance on hospital and healthcare-related infections.
• Design and oversee antimicrobial stewardship and infection control strategies.
• Work alongside intensive care, internal medicine, microbiology, and public health teams.
• Engage in the investigation, monitoring, and prevention of outbreaks.
• Monitor adherence to isolation guidelines and infection control across the hospital.
• Conduct training and educational sessions for medical professionals on infection prevention.
• Keep abreast of the latest developments, guidelines, and scientific research on emerging infectious diseases.
• Contribute towards clinical audits, quality improvements, and governance within the hospital environment.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited university.
• Mandatory Board Certification in Infectious Diseases.
• At least five years of experience working as a Consultant Infectious Disease specialist.
• Expertise in handling complex infectious and communicable diseases.
• Proven experience in antimicrobial stewardship and infection control programs.
• Exceptional clinical judgment and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and ability to work collaboratively within teams.
• Experience within multicultural healthcare settings.
• Eligible for medical licensing with the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) for Sharjah.
