Role Summary

We are seeking a full-time Clinical Research Assistant to contribute to multiple ongoing cancer clinical research studies focused on the effects of cancer treatment and exercise on patient health and survival. This position works within a dedicated clinical research team, collaborating with experts in exercise physiology, oncology, and health sciences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit participants and coordinate data collection procedures.
  • Maintain and update REDCap surveys, ensuring participants complete assessments.
  • Support the proper conduct and compliance of clinical trials.
  • Operate independently under general supervision, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of assigned tasks.
  • Identify issues, communicate concerns, and propose solutions to project leadership.
  • Develop databases, participant tracking systems, and standard operating procedures for research studies.
  • Engage actively in recruiting participants both in clinical settings and via phone.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or Associate's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or minimum 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Ability to recruit participants effectively in clinical environments and by telephone.
  • Strong communication skills with professionalism in interacting with participants and medical staff.
  • Detail-oriented with capacity to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
  • Experience with data collection and entry.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in exercise science, health promotion, nutrition, health education, nursing, or related disciplines.
  • Previous research experience at OHSU.
  • Experience with older adults and/or clinical populations.
  • Familiarity with REDCap, OnCore, Epic, and other OHSU systems.

Additional Information

This is a grant-funded position valid for up to one year with a possibility of extension depending on funding and project needs. CPR/First Aid certification is required and may be obtained upon hiring.
