About the Role
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a dedicated individual to join their Clinical Photography Department as a Booking Clerk / Scheduler. This role involves overseeing the daily administrative functions related to clinical photography and medical illustration appointment bookings, ensuring all requests are efficiently processed and capacity issues promptly reported. The role requires excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise B2 administrator(s) in managing the Clinical Photography and Medical Illustration Administration Team to ensure timely booking of outpatient and inpatient clinics.
- Identify and communicate any capacity shortfalls to the Service Manager swiftly.
- Assist in training and supervising administrative staff members.
- Promote effective communication skills among staff, emphasizing patient interaction via telephone and face-to-face.
- Handle day-to-day operational and personnel issues within the team.
Qualifications and Experience
- A good standard of education is essential.
- Proven knowledge of administrative processes and systems, including routine and non-routine activities such as query resolution and task-related problem solving, backed by Vocational Level 3 training or equivalent experience.
- Competent keyboard skills are required.
- Experience working in busy environments, preferably within NHS settings, especially roles involving Referral to Treatment (RTT) processes.
- Previous reception or customer service experience is advantageous.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
- European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent computer proficiency certification.
- Welsh language skills at any proficiency level welcomed, with preference given to candidates who can communicate in Welsh, though English-only applicants are equally considered.
- Familiarity with NHS initiatives such as patient choice and community-based care models is an added benefit.
- Engagement in ongoing professional development and learning activities with record-keeping.
