Role Overview

The Clearing Supervisor at Kasapreko Company Limited, based in Accra, Ghana, will operate under the Procurement Director’s guidance. This role oversees customs clearance and port activities for imports and exports, primarily at the Tema port, ensuring compliance and flawless logistics operations for Kasapreko and its affiliates.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise all stages of customs clearance for imports and exports, including preparing, checking documentation, and working closely with customs officials, port authorities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate with Ghana Revenue Authority’s Customs Division, port management, shipping companies, and freight forwarders to expedite shipment clearance.
  • Identify and resolve customs-related issues promptly, such as delays, errors in documents, or discrepancies.
  • Proactively monitor consignments to prevent any demurrage, detention, penalties, unlawful charges, or storage fees.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Ghana’s customs laws and applicable international trade regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Ghana’s import/export legislation, tariffs, port operations, and international logistics standards.
  • Guarantee that logistics processes align with regulatory standards critical to manufacturing and supply chain functions.
  • Oversee logistics planning and execution from port clearance through transportation and warehousing to final delivery.
  • Build and sustain strong collaborations with transporters, clearing agents, shipping lines, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics coordinators and supporting staff to achieve efficient, compliant operations.
  • Conduct regular staff training on logistics best practices, safety protocols, and regulatory updates.
  • Compile comprehensive reports addressing logistics and clearance status, including cost assessments, timelines, shipment progress, and any encountered disruptions.
  • Analyze current logistics clearance workflows to discover cost-saving and efficiency improvements.
  • Document all quality concerns or non-conformances reported by regulatory authorities and monitor corrective and preventive measures.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of Ghana Customs procedures including GCNet/ICUMS systems and port operations.
  • Experience with import/export documentation, Incoterms, duties, tariffs, and clearance procedures.
  • Track record of collaboration with clearing agents, transporters, and logistics service providers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with logistics or ERP platforms.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and coordination abilities.
  • Skilled at problem-solving clearance challenges and managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates high integrity, adaptability to regulatory changes, and a strong commitment to safety as an operational priority.
  • Proven supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Academic background: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 to 6 years' experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding, or port operations in Ghana, ideally within beverage production or related sectors.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CILT or FIATA are advantageous.
  • Holding a valid Ghanaian driver's license is preferred.
