Role Overview
A reputable contractor is seeking an experienced and commercially savvy Claims Specialist to lead the management, preparation, and settlement of contractual claims on large-scale retail, commercial, healthcare, residential, and mixed-use developments across Saudi Arabia.
This role is critical for safeguarding the company's contractual interests through detailed evaluation of claims, disputes, and variations while ensuring strict adherence to FIDIC contract conditions and local Saudi regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize legal and commercial expertise alongside strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and Saudi regulatory requirements to identify, draft, and submit contractual claims, including extensions of time, delays, and cost-related claims per contract stipulations.
- Analyze contracts, project documentation, and correspondence to reinforce claim presentations and responses.
- Monitor project timelines to identify potential claim events and ensure timely issuance of necessary notices.
- Provide ongoing contractual guidance to project teams regarding their contractual rights and duties.
- Prepare and review official claim documents, notices, and related correspondence.
- Collaborate with planning engineers to assess delays and compile time impact analyses.
- Evaluate and respond effectively to claims made by subcontractors and suppliers.
- Facilitate dispute resolutions through negotiations and liaise with legal advisors as required.
- Maintain comprehensive claims records and properly organized supporting paperwork.
- Assist with final account settlements, variations, and project close-out processes.
- Offer coaching on correct documentation practices and enhance contract awareness amongst project teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical) from an accredited institution.
- A postgraduate diploma in law is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Extensive industry experience ranging between 15 and 20 years in claims, contracts, or commercial management within construction.
- Proven expertise working with FIDIC contracts.
- Familiarity with Saudi Arabian construction laws and local project dynamics.
- A background combining legal and commercial aspects of construction is essential.
