Role Overview
The Category Manager at Amazon Pharmacy holds comprehensive oversight of their designated category, managing the customer experience and spearheading growth. The role involves curating a relevant product assortment, crafting targeted promotional strategies, overseeing relationships with sellers and brands, and shaping the long-term development plan for the category portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Category Managers forecast customer needs and integrate these insights into the functional roadmap. They drive significant improvements or innovations enhancing customer experience by leveraging knowledge of competitive market trends and broader environmental factors.
Candidate Profile and Skills
Ideal candidates bring self-motivation and a passion for independent, creative problem-solving. Strong data analysis capabilities, excellent communication and writing skills, demonstrated project leadership, and marketing and merchandising expertise are essential. Experience working in fast-paced, dynamically changing environments with rigorous organizational and time management abilities is critical. Technical agility to utilize web-based tools effectively is also required.
Eligibility and Qualifications
- Background in business, buying, or finance
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Experience leading cross-functional projects
- Detail-oriented with good prioritization and deadline management
- 3 to 6 years relevant experience in account/vendor management
- 3+ years Excel proficiency
- 5+ years in retail, operations, product/program management, or business management/consulting involving negotiations and results delivery
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional/military experience
- Financial analysis experience including P&L ownership
Preferred Experience
- Handling and analyzing large data sets to enhance performance and processes
- Expertise in vendor negotiations, pricing strategies, promotions, inventory oversight, and product development
