Job description
Position Overview
This role involves guiding patients on necessary documentation and providing essential information for processing letters of undertaking related to admissions using private insurance and the Safety Health Authority (SHA).
Main Responsibilities
- Assist patients by explaining documentation requirements for admission with private insurance and SHA coverage.
- Verify that guardians or patients have current SHA premiums renewed annually as stipulated to facilitate approvals.
- Educate patients about various payment options, including private insurance and SHA.
- Handle processing of private insurance and SHA claims, including billing, issuing accurate invoices, and informing patients and guardians about billing details and settlement procedures.
- Ensure donor-funded patients are billed accurately with correct invoices provided to donors upon patient discharge.
- Identify underprivileged patients and connect them with social workers for support.
- Follow up with clients via telephone to remind them of admission requirements and communicate insurance approvals.
- Maintain precise records of all transaction activities.
- Ensure SHA claims comply fully with governing guidelines and rules.
- Submit monthly invoicing and claims to the SHA office punctually.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of SHA accounts to confirm timely payments of submitted bills.
- Reconcile daily revenue figures with the Chief Accountant and prepare weekly cash collection reports.
- Manage insurance claims in the absence of the receivables accountant.
- Assist with cheque disbursement and petty cash payments when the payable accountant is unavailable.
- Ensure numerical entry of all receipts into the system.
- Participate in mobile clinic missions to coordinate financial matters.
- Support additional responsibilities such as stocktaking when required.
- Adhere strictly to CURE's child protection and safeguarding policies.
- Maintain hygiene and safety standards through implementation of occupational safety and health (OSHA) housekeeping policies.
- Oversee quality activities related to this position, in accordance with hospital standards such as SAFECARE.
