Cashier

About the Role

Cashiers at The Home Depot play an essential role in delivering excellent customer service by ensuring transactions are handled swiftly, accurately, and safely. They manage checkout and return processes and oversee the Self-Checkout area. They actively acquire product and project knowledge to assist customers and identify upselling opportunities, while adhering to company policies that help reduce shrinkage.

Responsibilities

• Process customer purchases and returns efficiently and correctly.
• Supervise and maintain the Self-Checkout stations to ensure smooth operations.
• Seek product and project knowledge to provide helpful information and identify sales opportunities.
• Follow all policies to minimize loss and ensure compliance.
• For Head Cashiers: assign tasks to cashiers, expedite price checks, approve transactions and markdowns across registers and special service areas.
• Handle first-level escalations from customers and assist in coaching and training fellow front-end staff.
• Participate in onboarding new cashiers and use available resources to develop cashier skills.

Qualifications

• Preferred: at least one year of experience as a cashier.
