Carpenter

Overview

This role requires proficiency in English and a secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Candidates must possess at least five years of hands-on carpentry experience.

Work Environment

The work is conducted exclusively on-site in North Vancouver, British Columbia, with no remote option. The conditions may be noisy and dusty, often taking place outdoors across various locations including construction sites, renovation projects, and residential environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand requirements.
• Create layouts adhering to building codes using precise measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials such as wood, wood alternatives, lightweight steel, and others.
• Construct foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roofing systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware components.
• Instruct apprentices and oversee 1-2 workers under supervision.

Equipment and Tools

Hands-on experience with hand tools is essential. Workers must provide their own tools including steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses or goggles, and a cellular phone.

• Must clear a criminal record check.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and own transportation is required.
• The job demands physical capabilities such as bending, crouching, kneeling, and a mix of sitting, standing, and walking.
• Work is physically intensive and requires ability to operate with minimal supervision.
