Role Overview
The Business Rules Analyst role supports the configuration, testing, and verification of business rules within the Livegage platform. This position involves translating business and regulatory requirements into precise rule logic, maintaining comprehensive documentation, and ensuring traceability throughout the rule lifecycle. Close collaboration with the Rules Manager, Product Owner, and IT teams is essential to deliver accurate rules on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret business and regulatory needs to craft rule logic and decision criteria.
- Create and update detailed rule specifications including inputs, conditions, and expected results.
- Work alongside the Rules Manager to configure and validate rules within the Livegage environment.
- Conduct data validation and analyze exceptions to guarantee rule precision.
- Maintain clear documentation of rule logic, test scenarios, and results for audit purposes.
- Assist in sprint planning by estimating work effort and recognizing dependencies.
- Engage in agile ceremonies and keep task progress current in Azure Boards.
- Spot opportunities to enhance rules through optimization and automation.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize complex SQL queries, including joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions, and CASE statements, to support validation, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning.
- Analyze data outputs independently to verify business rules and reporting outcomes.
Necessary Skills and Expertise
- Excellent analytical and logical thinking capabilities.
- Experience with business rules creation, decision tables, or modeling logic.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a strong focus on data accuracy.
- Ability to convert complex requirements into structured rule logic.
- Familiarity with agile development processes and backlog management tools.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL including complex queries, joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions, data profiling, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, validation, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, views, aggregations, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of mortgage servicing processes, including reporting and operational performance analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Livegage or similar business rules platforms.
- Background in compliance, risk management, or operational analytics.
- Agile certification or practical experience working within agile teams.
- Familiarity with MSP ICE application is advantageous.
