Overview
Glenorchy City Council is seeking a proactive and experienced Business Analyst to enhance business transformation efforts and optimize operational performance across the organization. This role involves working at the intersection of business and technology to identify improvement areas, implement practical solutions, and enhance effective enterprise system usage.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing and refining Council business processes and systems.
- Assess, implement, and manage new features and upgrades on enterprise platforms such as Technology One, ECM, and Microsoft 365.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, automation, reporting, and system use to boost efficiency and service delivery.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors to understand needs and translate them into deliverable solutions.
- Organize and facilitate workshops, gather comprehensive requirements, and support the integration of system and process improvements.
- Develop and keep up-to-date process maps, business analysis documentation, and compliance governance artifacts.
- Evaluate risks, impacts, and benefits of changes and provide data-driven recommendations for operational enhancements.
- Design and implement business process automation and build dashboards to improve organizational performance insights.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is analytical and inquisitive, with a passion for understanding organizational operations and delivering improvements in systems and processes.
- Proficient in business process modeling, process analysis, and driving continuous improvement.
- Experienced in applying Lean methodologies and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Strong skills in eliciting and documenting requirements as well as facilitating various stakeholders.
- Adept at bridging business and technical teams to create actionable solutions.
- Capable of evaluating emerging technologies and vendor updates for business advantage.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking to identify root causes and resolve issues effectively.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, producing quality documentation and reports.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Business Analytics, Information Systems, ICT, or closely related fields.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in business analysis, enterprise system implementation, or continual improvement roles.
- Demonstrated background in operational support, system optimization, or business enhancement environments.
Employment Details
This position is full-time with a 76-hour work cycle over a 9-day fortnight and is based onsite at Glenorchy City Council in Montrose, Tasmania.
