Role Overview
The Building Supervisor position is a permanent, on-site role located in Modbury, South Australia. The supervisor will oversee daily building operations by coordinating tradespeople, managing maintenance schedules, and assuring that all activities comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include frequent property inspections, directing repair and maintenance work, and swiftly addressing issues to reduce resident inconvenience. The role involves regular interaction with contractors, suppliers, and internal departments, along with maintaining precise records of completed work and reporting on the condition and maintenance demands of the facilities. The supervisor is expected to guide the onsite workforce clearly, enforce a secure working environment, and promote ongoing enhancements in building and facility management processes.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven supervisory abilities, including coordinating teams, managing contractors, and overseeing site operations on a daily basis.
- Hands-on carpentry skills and experience performing building repairs, fit-outs, and various construction tasks.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, tradespeople, suppliers, and internal colleagues.
- Prior experience with building maintenance encompassing regular inspections, preventative upkeep, and troubleshooting faults.
- Understanding of facility management principles, safety protocols, and pertinent building codes and regulations.
- Background in residential construction, property maintenance, or building supervision is preferred.
- Ability to interpret construction plans, scopes of work, and technical documents accurately.
- Excellent organizational and time-management capabilities with an emphasis on detail and record documentation.
- Familiarity with fundamental digital tools such as email, spreadsheets, and maintenance management software.
- Desirable relevant trade certification, building-related qualifications, or equivalent practical experience.
