Job Overview
This role entails serving as a Budget Analyst within the National Land Imaging program of the U.S. Geological Survey. The position involves comprehensive financial and administrative support for budget formulation, execution, and monitoring, including multi-source budget management related to satellite missions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage daily financial and administrative tasks supporting the NLI Program’s budget planning and tracking.
- Perform fiscal analyses involving appropriated, reimbursable, and multi-year budget allocations for satellite missions.
- Oversee account monitoring, reconciliation, reporting, and conduct year-end close-outs with variance analysis.
- Participate as program representative in bureau-level financial and operational working groups, collaborating with regional and cost-center leaders.
- Supervise support staff in executing business processes and lead special projects supporting program leadership.
Employment Conditions and Requirements
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens with successful completion of background checks and E-Verify verification.

- Participation in direct deposit and possession/maintenance of a government charge card for travel and purchase authority is mandatory.
- Travel is required, involving overnight stays up to five nights monthly.
- A one-year probationary period may be imposed to assess fitness and contribution to agency goals.
Qualifications
- One year specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level, including budget estimation collaboration, independent budgeting problem-solving, fiscal data analysis, internal accounting documentation, and cost-benefit analyses.
- This role does not allow substitution of education for required experience.
