Role Overview

As the Assistant Director of Engineering, you will play a key role supporting the Director in overseeing all engineering, maintenance, and technical functions to guarantee the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of the property. Your scope includes managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs, assisting in capital projects, and ensuring alignment with regulatory and operational standards. You will also lead and guide the engineering team to maintain high levels of facility performance, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily management of the Engineering department encompassing maintenance, utilities, and technical services.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure optimal functioning of building systems and equipment.
• Supervise engineering personnel, offering technical support, training, and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with all local regulations, safety protocols, energy management initiatives, and corporate standards.
• Support budget preparation, cost control, CAPEX planning, and manage contractors and engineering project executions.

Candidate Profile

• Comprehensive technical understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, BMS, and fire and life safety systems.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Expertise in project management and maintenance planning.
• Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and root cause analysis.
• Financial acumen relating to budgeting and cost optimization.
• Dedicated to safety compliance and ongoing operational improvements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Facilities Management, or relevant certification.
• Preferred certifications include HVAC, BMS, energy management, and Health & Safety training such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
• Familiarity with UAE authority requirements and building compliance is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years in a managerial or senior supervisory engineering position.
• Experience with CAPEX projects, contractor management, budgeting, sustainability, energy efficiency, and hotel engineering systems is a plus.
• Previous work in internationally branded luxury or upscale hotel environments is highly desirable.
