About the Role

Vortex, a specialist contractor focused on cured-in-place pipe rehabilitation, is looking for a dependable Yardman to help keep its yard and operational base running smoothly. This is a practical, hands-on position that plays a key part in keeping the site tidy, secure, and efficient, while making sure vehicles, machinery, tools, and materials are ready to support projects across the South of the UK.

What You’ll Do

• Keep the yard clean, orderly, and safe to work in
• Load and unload vehicles, materials, and equipment
• Get plant, tools, and equipment ready for use
• Check vehicles, equipment, and other assets for any damage or faults
• Monitor stock levels for materials, consumables, and PPE
• Handle everyday yard upkeep and housekeeping tasks
• Support deliveries, collections, and wider logistics work
• Store equipment safely and in the correct place
• Help with vehicle and plant inspections, servicing plans, and related records
• Use forklifts and other yard equipment when qualified to do so
• Sort and dispose of waste in line with company procedures
• Assist project teams with mobilisation and demobilisation needs
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures
• Act as a professional representative of the business at all times

What We’re Looking For

• Prior experience in a yard, warehouse, logistics, construction, or operational support environment
• Solid awareness of safe working methods
• Confidence with manual handling and physically demanding tasks
• Reliable, proactive, and positive working style
• Ability to work on your own as well as alongside others
• Good organisation and strong attention to detail
• Basic communication and record-keeping ability
• Willingness to adapt to operational needs
• Forklift licence is an advantage
• Experience in construction, utilities, drainage, or infrastructure is an advantage
• Full UK driving licence preferred
