Role Overview
This position is for a Windows Administrator responsible for keeping Windows-based infrastructure stable, secure, and available across production and non-production environments in Bengaluru East.
Core Responsibilities
- Take ownership of day-to-day administration, setup, and upkeep of Windows servers and the services running on them.
- Handle account, group, and permission administration while enforcing secure access practices and internal policy requirements.
- Track server health, usage, and uptime, and act early to prevent service disruption.
- Carry out operating system patching, security updates, and firmware refreshes in line with approved change-control and ITIL-driven processes.
- Investigate and close incidents involving Windows servers, Active Directory, and connected infrastructure within agreed service levels.
- Oversee backup, restore, and disaster recovery activities for Windows environments, including regular testing and documentation of recovery procedures.
- Prepare and keep current technical records such as configuration notes, standard operating procedures, and infrastructure diagrams.
- Work with networking, security, and application teams during deployments, integrations, and environment changes.
- Join the on-call roster and support maintenance windows as well as urgent production incidents when required.
- Look for ways to automate, streamline, and standardize recurring Windows administration activities.
Required Qualifications
- A B.Tech degree or an equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is required.
- At least 5 to 8 years of practical experience supporting Windows administration in medium to large enterprise environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows Server installation, configuration, and ongoing administration.
- Good command of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and foundational networking concepts.
- Prior exposure to incident, problem, and change management in structured ITIL-based operations.
- Experience with monitoring tools, log review, and performance tuning for Windows servers.
- Ability to produce and maintain accurate technical documentation and operational runbooks.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of more than one technology.
- Basics of architecture and design fundamentals.
- Knowledge of testing tools.
- Awareness of agile methodologies.
- Understanding of project life cycle activities for development and maintenance work.
- Understanding of one or more estimation methods and quality processes.
- Basic business domain awareness to interpret business requirements.
- Strong analytical capability, solid technical skills, and good communication ability.
- Good understanding of the technology and the domain.
- Ability to demonstrate sound understanding of software quality assurance principles, SOLID design principles, and modelling methods.
- Awareness of current technologies and industry trends.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
