Job Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing on-site execution for the assigned scope of work, making sure construction activities follow approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and quality expectations. The role serves as the main technical point of coordination at site, working with foremen, subcontractors, QA/QC personnel, and project engineers to uphold workmanship, safety, and schedule targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct foremen and their crews so daily work is completed in line with IFC drawings, shop drawings, and project requirements.
- Go through method statements and task procedures with foremen before work starts to ensure both technical and safety requirements are clearly understood.
- Check reinforcement, formwork, and concrete activities, including bar bending schedules, cover, spacing, and compaction, to confirm compliance with the structural design and standards.
- Oversee finishing activities such as plastering, tiling, waterproofing, and painting, ensuring materials and workmanship match approved samples and project specifications.
- Work with QA/QC staff during inspections and tests, and keep clear records of non-conformances, site directions, and corrective actions.
- Confirm that delivered materials meet approved submittals and are stored properly to avoid damage or deterioration.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to keep work flow and deliveries aligned with project timelines and quality expectations.
- Maintain accurate daily site records covering progress, manpower, materials, weather, incidents, and technical issues.
- Support Project Engineers by preparing and submitting RFIs, site instructions, and variation requests tied to site conditions or design gaps.
- Track subcontractor foremen’s output and productivity, offering technical direction to ensure contractual and quality standards are met.
- Ensure setting out points, benchmarks, and temporary works are preserved and adjusted when design updates or site limitations require it.
- Coordinate civil, architectural, and MEP interface works to reduce clashes and avoid rework.
- Keep as-built records up to date and assist with revisions to site drawings for approved changes.
- Help coordinate material testing, soil compaction tests, concrete strength tests, and other site QA activities.
- Partner with the planning team by providing timely progress updates and flagging delays or constraints that affect the critical path.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in building construction is needed, including a minimum of 4 years in Dubai.
Additional Requirements
The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of construction methods, structural and finishing works, and the requirements of local authorities.
