Senior / Lead Data Scientist – Applied Statistics & Machine Learning

Overview

This is an opportunity for an experienced data science professional to join a fast-growing AI and data science consultancy in Frankfurt. The team works with clients in healthcare, insurance, finance, energy, and manufacturing, delivering practical solutions to complex problems. Each assignment is different, so the role offers variety, technical depth, and the chance to work on meaningful real-world challenges rather than repetitive product work.

The position suits someone who enjoys careful statistical thinking as much as model building. A healthy scepticism toward unusually strong results, a focus on rigour, and a habit of checking the quality and suitability of data before modelling are central to the role. You will collaborate directly with customers, shape work from the initial problem definition through to deployment, and communicate outcomes to senior stakeholders. The environment places more value on engineering quality and thoughtful analysis than on following AI buzzwords.

What you'll do

• Take ownership of end-to-end data science and machine learning work for client projects.
• Explore, clean, and interpret messy datasets from real business environments.
• Use statistical analysis, predictive modelling, and machine learning methods to solve client problems.
• Work with tabular data, time series, text, and image-based datasets.
• Explain technical conclusions clearly to both technical teams and non-technical business audiences.

• Hands-on commercial experience in data science and machine learning.
• Strong grounding in statistics, uncertainty, hypothesis testing, and model assessment.
• Advanced Python ability, along with experience using modern machine learning libraries and frameworks.
• Confidence working directly with clients and senior stakeholders.

• A mindset that challenges data quality and model results before accepting them at face value.
