Internship Overview
This internship involves contributing to software development for a robotic metal 3D printing system. The robotic arm, specifically a KUKA model, executes precise material deposition routes generated from the company’s CAD/CAM platform. Prior to deploying on actual hardware, these processes must be constructed, tested thoroughly, and validated through simulations. The core focus of this role is to develop and enhance this simulation environment that serves as a critical foundation for forthcoming real-world hardware integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Create ROS-based simulations tailored for a 6-axis robotic arm.
- Design, build, and verify 5-axis motion simulation and toolpath accuracy.
- Ensure simulation workflows are compatible with KUKA robotic arms.
- Generate and validate robot motion pathways derived from slicing outputs.
- Investigate robot kinematics relevant to additive manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate on expanding the CAD/CAM platform and associated modules.
