Occupational Therapist

Role overview

Starwalkers is hiring a full-time Pediatric Occupational Therapist in Dubai. The position is on-site and focused on supporting children through a neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based model of care.

Core focus

The therapist will assess children’s sensory, motor, and daily living abilities, then develop tailored intervention plans that support participation and functional progress. The role also includes close coordination with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the child’s care.

Approach and practice style

The ideal candidate should already be comfortable working within the neurodiversity paradigm or be willing to learn it quickly. The practice style should emphasize sensory regulation, strengths, and individualized support rather than compliance-based goals or sitting tolerance.

Key duties

• Carry out sensory-based assessments and use findings to guide intervention.
• Build individual therapy plans based on each child’s profile and needs.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and professionals to apply sensory strategies that improve performance and executive functioning.
• Work in co-therapy alongside a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Prepare documentation and official client reports in the company’s prescribed format.
• Join individualized care plan discussions, review existing client information, and take part in team meetings.
• Support the creation of online resources and webinars for parent coaching on sensory integration therapy.

Training and onboarding

The first two weeks will involve intensive onboarding, including video calls and several hours of personal reading on neurodiversity and related topics. This is intended to help the therapist feel confident when working with autistic children and their families.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university is required, along with a valid DHA license. Strong communication skills are also essential.
