About the company
Cedar is focused on improving how healthcare is paid for and experienced by using data science, thoughtful product design, and personalization. The company was founded to address the financial burden patients often face when seeking care and to replace the traditional one-size-fits-all model with a more consumer-friendly approach.
Founded in 2016, Cedar has grown into a healthcare technology company backed by more than $350 million in funding, with support from Thrive and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). As of November 2024, the company serves 26 million patients each year and is on track to handle $3.5 billion in patient payments annually. Cedar works with more than 55 healthcare providers and payers, including Highmark Inc., Allegheny Health Network, Novant Health, Allina Health, and Providence.
Role overview
The Delivery team owns the full implementation lifecycle for Cedar’s product suite. The Implementation Director will lead Cedar’s largest and most strategically important implementations, bringing deep experience in healthcare software delivery along with strong executive-level communication, alignment building, and risk management capabilities. This is an individual contributor role reporting to a Senior Director within Delivery.
What you will do
- Take ownership of the success of Cedar’s most complex and high-priority implementations.
- Build and manage detailed implementation plans, then drive execution end to end with minimal supervision while keeping timelines, budgets, and quality on track.
- Serve as a senior partner across Delivery, go-to-market, and product teams to shape practical product solutions that align with client needs and business goals.
- Help define integration approaches using findings from technical design sessions, while also considering operational consequences downstream.
- Identify implementation risks tied to integrations, data mapping, interface design, reconciliation, and vendor coordination, and put mitigation plans in place before issues slow delivery.
- Work independently to remove obstacles and keep both clients and internal teams moving forward.
- Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders at every level, from operations teams to senior executives, and guide all workstreams and vendors toward shared outcomes.
- Mentor and coach Delivery teammates by modeling strong judgment in complex and ambiguous situations.
- Improve internal tools and delivery processes so Cedar’s implementation function can scale more effectively.
- Establish feedback channels that bring the customer perspective back to internal teams and help shape product and delivery improvements.
- Represent and live Cedar’s company values in day-to-day work.
- Be open to travel within the U.S. for up to 10% of the time.
What the company is looking for
- At least 8-10+ years of experience in a client-facing senior project management, consulting, or operations position, or a closely related role, within healthcare software or technology implementation.
- Prior work with large healthcare systems is required.
- Strong background in Revenue Cycle Management and/or comparable EHR implementation work is required.
- Ability to manage several interdependent workstreams at once and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to share status, issues, and risks clearly with executive-level stakeholders.
- A collaborative and consultative style that helps build lasting relationships with client executives, including during periods of tension or disagreement.
- Resourceful and durable problem-solving ability, with the judgment to spot risks early and help others do the same.
- Ability to turn operational and technical needs into actionable implementation plans and engineering-ready work.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience using tools such as Jira, Excel, Looker, Tableau, and Salesforce.
- Preferred familiarity with relational databases, cloud environments, and common healthcare interoperability patterns.
- A curious mindset and a consistent drive to improve how things are done.
- Ability to motivate others toward team and company goals.
