Role overview

The Disneyland Resort Park Operations Graphic Designer is responsible for steering creative projects from the first idea through final delivery. The role uses design expertise in software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create visual assets including imagery, color systems, typography, logos, and shapes for local, park-wide, and resort-wide activations and events.

This position works closely with leaders and company stakeholders to build internal and external collateral that follows brand standards, secures the right approvals, and delivers practical creative solutions. The designer also partners with project managers and outside vendors to manage print production and installation, while keeping work aligned with schedule expectations.

This is a full-time, onsite position reporting to the leader of the DLR Operations Core Support Team.

Key responsibilities

  • Translate each client’s request into a clear creative direction, define the scope and design approach, and document the final agreement with all stakeholders.
  • Check company libraries and internal resources for existing artwork or source files, and coordinate with contacts to obtain working files or original assets when needed.
  • Collaborate with fellow designers to exchange best practices, emerging tools, and successful internal work.
  • Support bid preparation and vendor coordination with leadership oversight, ensuring client cost approval and vendor agreements are completed correctly.
  • Follow internal procurement steps and make sure the correct vendors and groups are paid on time.
  • Build project timelines with major milestones such as first and final client review, leader approval, legal sign-off, and final delivery, then keep schedules current in tools like Smartsheet and Microsoft Tasks.
  • Maintain regular communication with key partners, including Legal, Branding, and studio teams such as Pixar, Marvel, Walt Disney Studios, Archives, and others, to secure approvals based on intended use.
  • Create and refine production-ready graphic work with exact dimensional requirements for print, fabrication, or digital output using Adobe Creative Suite and related platforms at an expert level.
  • Coordinate with vendors to confirm proper bleeds, fonts, sizing, materials, quantities, installation needs, and other production details, and step in to deliver final output to the client if vendor execution falls short.

Candidate profile

  • Strong portfolio showcasing polished design work across both digital and print formats.
  • The portfolio must be included as a URL on the resume; other portfolio submission methods will not be reviewed.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Strong familiarity with Disney, Disneyland Resort, and Disney Cast Member history.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and Smartsheet.
  • Experience presenting concepts and telling a compelling story for executive audiences.
  • Ability to preserve brand authenticity throughout creative development.
  • Hands-on experience with printing, mounting, cutting, and engraving equipment and software.
  • Well-developed organizational and administrative capabilities with careful attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle shifting priorities, last-minute requests, and firm deadlines.
  • Guest service background.
  • Capability to manage confidential materials responsibly.
  • Strong relationship-building, partnership, and networking skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bilingual ability in Spanish and English.
  • Additional experience with video design, editing, or multimedia art is advantageous.
  • Prior experience as a Disney Cast Member is preferred.

Education requirement

  • A BA or BFA in Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a closely related field is required, or at least 5 years of relevant full-time in-house graphic design experience.

Compensation and benefits

The expected salary range for this California role is $65,300 to $87,500 per year. Actual compensation may differ based on internal equity, geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The package may also include a bonus and/or long-term incentive units, along with access to the full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the level and position offered.
