About the opportunity
WSP is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join its New Plymouth team and support consulting work for a range of clients. The position focuses on site investigations, engineering analysis, technical reporting, design work, and construction observation across projects involving buildings, roads, water assets, and structural works.
This role also plays an important part in strengthening geotechnical capability within the New Plymouth office and across the wider Taranaki and Manawatu-Whanganui region.

Key responsibilities
- Deliver geotechnical consultancy services for clients across a variety of projects.
- Carry out site investigations and interpret findings for engineering use.
- Prepare analysis, technical documentation, and project reports.
- Contribute to geotechnical design work for buildings, transport, water, and structural projects.
- Provide construction observation and related field support as needed.
- Help expand and develop geotechnical engineering capability in the New Plymouth office and surrounding region.
Candidate profile
- Holds a Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Engineering with a geotechnical engineering focus.
- Has practical knowledge of New Zealand design codes and standards.
- Possesses a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
- Brings preferably at least 7 years of professional experience in a relevant discipline.
