Role Summary
Teraflex is seeking energetic people with strong customer service and practical technical ability. In this role, you will partner with your team to complete labour and construction work safely, efficiently, and on schedule. You will also be responsible for the safe use of tools and equipment while carrying out general labour duties on construction projects.
Key Duties
- Represent the company positively while demonstrating leadership, innovation, and a strong commitment to quality.
- Work collaboratively with coworkers and contribute ideas for improving how tasks are completed.
- Move, load, unload, and organize construction materials, equipment, and supplies, and keep work areas clear of debris.
- Carry out excavation, backfilling, pipe installation, and compaction work using hand tools.
- Use small power tools safely, including tampers, cut saws, air compressors, and generators.
- Use manual tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, pliers, and side cutters effectively.
- Maintain clear communication with team members and management regarding preparation and project planning.
- Accurately complete paperwork such as daily work orders and tailboards.
- Promptly report project delays, concerns, or issues to the supervisor.
- Perform daily safety checks on equipment and tools.
- Follow equipment maintenance schedules and notify the supervisor when repairs are needed.
- Comply with all occupational health, safety, and environmental laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Carry out additional related tasks as directed by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- High school completion at Grade 12 level or an equivalent credential.
- At least 1 to 2 years of underground construction experience in a related field.
- Book 7 knowledge or certification is an advantage.
- Ability to read plans, diagrams, and locates is an asset.
- Experience with conduit and pipe laying is an asset.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence with a strong driving record.
- Successful criminal background check required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to handle the physical demands of the job.
- Work may take place outdoors and in confined spaces.
- Role involves moving equipment and materials.
- Frequent climbing and lifting are required.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Standing for long periods is necessary.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including cold, heat, rain, snow, and wind.
