About Young Adult Cancer Canada

Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) is a nationwide charity that supports adolescents and young adults affected by cancer. The organization is driven by connection, community, and a commitment to making sure young adults do not have to face cancer on their own.

The team is described as collaborative, adaptable, and caring, with a people-first culture that values shared ownership, flexibility, and mutual respect. YACC emphasizes progress over perfection, trust over hierarchy, and teamwork over working in silos.

Role Overview

YACC is expanding its Fund Development team and is hiring a Fund Development Officer to strengthen the revenue base that supports and grows its programs. The position involves campaign delivery, corporate and community fundraising, donor stewardship, and data/system coordination. It reports to the Director of Development and works closely with the Operations Coordinator, Communications Officer, and program staff.

This is a full-time role that is open to candidates anywhere in Canada. Candidates located in St. John’s should expect a hybrid arrangement, and remote work is also available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver YACC fundraising campaigns, with Shave for the Brave as the main focus, along with other assigned initiatives.
  • Work with the Communications Officer to help plan and execute campaign messaging and communications.
  • Monitor campaign results, compare performance with targets, and prepare timely reports and insights.
  • Support community fundraisers and third-party event hosts with coaching, toolkits, and relationship management.
  • Assist with building and activating corporate partnerships.
  • Research potential corporate and community donors and prepare background notes for major gift and partnership discussions.
  • Support the monthly giving program through coordination, donor communication, and stewardship activities.
  • Assist with planned giving research, documentation, and acknowledgement of donors.
  • Take part in donor appreciation efforts such as thank-you letters, impact reports, and cultivation events.
  • Research grant opportunities and help draft proposals and sponsorship packages with the Director of Development.
  • Maintain familiarity with active grants and support reporting deadlines and funder relationship management.
  • Record and update donor and fundraising information accurately in CRM and other fundraising systems.
  • Generate reports, track pipeline activity, and support data-driven decision making.
  • Help improve data entry standards and internal fund development processes.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in fund development or a closely related nonprofit position.
  • Proven background in grant writing, including researching funding opportunities and preparing proposals.
  • Experience running fundraising campaigns or events from planning through post-event reporting.
  • A post-secondary degree in social sciences, business, or a related discipline.
  • Comfort using a CRM system or spreadsheets to manage donor or operational data.
  • Strong business writing skills, especially for donor communications, proposals, and appeals.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, or community partners.
  • Familiarity with, or a personal connection to, the cancer community or wider health nonprofit sector is considered an advantage.

Compensation

The role offers a comprehensive compensation package aligned to experience. The annual salary range is $55,000 to $65,000.

Why Join YACC

  • Work in a role with clear and meaningful real-world impact.
  • Be trusted to lead, adapt, and grow in your responsibilities.
  • Join a team that supports one another through transparency, trust, and mutual care.
