Position Purpose
This role is responsible for overseeing the entire capital expenditure and lease accounting process while safeguarding the accuracy and completeness of the fixed asset register. The position covers vehicles, heavy equipment, machinery, and site assets, and also supports the organization’s move from IFRS for SMEs to full IFRS. The role is critical for maintaining financial control, meeting compliance requirements, staying audit-ready, and helping improve asset value in support of project profitability and cash flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the full fixed asset lifecycle, including additions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation.
- Assess project spending and classify items correctly as capital expenditure or expense in line with IAS 16 and IAS 2.
- Keep the fixed asset register updated and ensure it reconciles accurately with the general ledger.
- Calculate monthly IFRS depreciation and prepare depreciation reconciliations for ZATCA reporting.
- Handle lease accounting under IFRS 16, including right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, and related journal entries.
- Track possible asset impairment and arrange valuations whenever needed.
- Coordinate periodic physical checks of assets across projects and sites.
- Assist internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents.
- Support ongoing process improvement in fixed asset and lease accounting, including ERP enhancements and asset tagging initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in fixed asset accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of IAS 16, IAS 23, IAS 36, and IFRS 16.
- Experience maintaining large fixed asset registers covering vehicles, heavy equipment, and construction-related assets.
- Practical ERP exposure; NetSuite is strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel capability, including Power Query, PivotTables, and complex formulas.
- Professional certification such as SOCPA, ACCA, or CPA is preferred.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
