Role Overview
This position is for a Document Controller supporting the KSIA Project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role reports to the Project Document Manager and sits in a fast-moving, high-volume environment where accurate document handling is essential. The successful candidate will help manage document workflows, uphold governance requirements, improve data quality, and support overall records and document management across the project.
About the Project
Bechtel has supported major airport developments for more than 80 years, including greenfield and brownfield projects across the GCC and beyond. For the King Salman International Airport program in Riyadh, Bechtel is delivering project management consultancy services covering technical, commercial, and construction management. The airport is planned to serve up to 120 million travelers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050, with cargo capacity reaching up to 3.5 million tons by 2050. The PMC scope includes three new terminals: Terminal 6, an efficient low-cost carrier terminal of about 450,000 m2 with capacity for 20 million passengers per year; the Iconic Terminal, a new-concept terminal of about 1 million m2 with capacity for 40 to 45 million passengers per year; and a Private Aviation Terminal with hangars for VIP and business jet passengers.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes managing document control activities, supporting enterprise content management tools, and ensuring project records are registered, distributed, tracked, archived, and retained correctly. It also involves improving workflows, checking compliance, supporting audits, and assisting users with system-related issues.
Systems, Compliance, and Support
Work will involve enterprise content management systems such as Aconex and Unifier, as well as archival and retention tools and SaaS-based applications. The controller will help assess integration needs, prepare support plans, monitor data-entry quality, and assist with access or authentication problems including SSO and two-step verification. The position also requires training colleagues, drafting or updating procedures, and helping contractors and suppliers resolve document-control or system issues.
Experience and Background
This opportunity requires a bachelor’s degree or an international equivalent, together with either 5 to 8 years of relevant experience or 9 to 12 years of related work experience. The work also calls for familiarity with project deliverables in infrastructure or EPC environments, from design through commissioning, as well as experience in record retention and project closeout activities.
Additional Requirements
The role is expected to include internal audits, detailed quality checks, and ongoing process improvement. Strong knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 19650 is important, along with the ability to coordinate document distribution according to role-based communication matrices. The position requires someone who is detail-oriented, calm under deadlines, adaptable, and able to contribute in a team-oriented setting.
