Role overview
The Composite Technician will be responsible for structural and composite maintenance work on aircraft, including repairs, modifications, installations, replacements, and inspections for both airline-owned and third-party aircraft. All work must follow approved maintenance information, regulatory standards, and internal procedures to help maintain safety, airworthiness, and full compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Review the job card with the Engineer or Supervisor before starting, confirming the scope of work, supporting records, task priority, and any required safety measures.
- Plan and carry out composite repairs, modifications, installations, and part replacements in line with task card instructions, while keeping cost, practicality, and operational safety in mind.
- Perform inspections, repairs, and modifications to the required standard, and accurately detect, document, and report any damage or defects.
- Carry out structural and composite rectification work, including installations and replacements, using approved technical data and instructions issued by the Engineering Department.
- Collect the correct tools and equipment from stores before the job, and return everything in proper condition once the task is finished.
- Complete allocated task cards and record sign-off in the Maintenance & Engineering software system promptly and without mistakes.
- Maintain clear communication with engineers, technicians, and other relevant teams to support coordination, continuity of work, and effective handover.
- Follow all required safety precautions, human factors practices, and maintenance procedures before and during the task to protect yourself and others.
- Keep the workspace clean, orderly, and safe at all times, while maintaining strong housekeeping standards.
- Use resources carefully by reducing waste, avoiding repeat work, and keeping material and repair costs under control.
- Provide practical, proactive, and solution-focused support to operational teams across the airline.
- Project a professional and positive technical image when dealing with internal stakeholders and external parties, including third-party customers.
Requirements
- A diploma or certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, preferably in Structural or Airframe discipline, or a similar technical qualification.
- Practical ability to carry out fabrication work.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft composite materials, repair methods, approved maintenance practices, and regulatory expectations.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, maintenance task cards, and engineering instructions correctly.
- Competence in using standard workshop tools and equipment.
- Basic computer skills for working with Maintenance & Engineering systems and related documentation.
- Understanding of inspection methods and troubleshooting approaches.
- High attention to detail, with a strong focus on safety and compliance.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Capacity to manage time and resources effectively in a fast-moving operational setting.
- Awareness of human factors in aircraft maintenance work.
- Physical fitness to work in varied conditions, including confined areas and outdoor environments.
- Willingness to work rostered shifts based on operational needs.
- At least 2 years of experience in aircraft composite repair on large commercial aircraft, preferably Airbus aircraft.
- At least 2 years of experience in a base maintenance workshop environment.
Additional information
This role supports both airline and third-party aircraft maintenance activity in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The successful candidate will be expected to work in a regulated aviation environment where accuracy, safety, and teamwork are essential.
Working conditions
The position is full-time and site-based. Work may involve shift duty depending on operational requirements, and the role requires the ability to work in different operational conditions.
