Commis I

Role Overview

This position is for a full-time, non-management Commis I role based in Al Hamra District, Southern Corniche, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role supports a luxury hospitality kitchen environment and is focused on preparing food to the required quality, presentation, and safety standards.

Key Duties

• Prepare specialty dishes and substitute menu items when needed.
• Control oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures for proper cooking results.
• Move frozen ingredients into refrigeration to thaw safely before use.
• Portion, arrange, and garnish food according to presentation standards.
• Keep food production logs and track prepared items.
• Check the quality and quantity of food being made.
• Support the kitchen during peak periods and communicate when assistance is required.
• Notify the chef about surplus ingredients that can be used in daily specials.
• Tell food and beverage service staff about menu specials and unavailable items.
• Cook and prepare items according to recipes, quality requirements, presentation standards, and production checklists.
• Prepare cold dishes as part of daily kitchen operations.
• Help management with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, and employee motivation.
• Act as a positive example for the team and help maintain high service standards.
• Follow all company, safety, and security procedures and report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions.
• Complete required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Protect confidential information and company property.
• Respond to guest needs in a proactive and courteous manner.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and guests.
• Build cooperative working relationships and help the team achieve shared goals.
• Listen carefully and respond appropriately to coworker concerns.
• Meet quality expectations and work standards consistently.
• Be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods and perform physical movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, pulling, and stooping.
• Handle, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Carry out other duties assigned by supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

A technical, trade, or vocational school degree is preferred. At least 3 years of relevant work experience is required. No previous supervisory experience is needed, and no license or certification is specified.
