Role Overview

Wolt is hiring a Backend Engineer for the AdTech & Promotions team. The ideal candidate will be deeply backend-focused, comfortable working through uncertainty, and able to drive large initiatives that involve multiple teams from early planning through to delivery.

What You'll Do

• Develop and improve backend systems that are reliable, scalable, and ready for real-world traffic.
• Take full ownership of sizeable initiatives that span multiple teams and business areas.
• Turn unclear problems into structured plans, milestones, and execution steps.
• Work closely with stakeholders to align expectations, gather input, and keep projects moving smoothly.
• Communicate progress, decisions, and trade-offs clearly to different partners across the business.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools and agent-based workflows as part of day-to-day development.

What We're Looking For

• Solid experience in backend engineering.
• Strong preference for Go/Golang development experience.
• Practical background in building and running scalable backend services.
• Confidence working in ambiguous settings and creating clarity where processes are not yet defined.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional work independently.
• Strong planning, delivery, and stakeholder management skills.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to respond constructively to feedback.
• Hands-on familiarity with AI-supported development, including tools such as Codex, Claude, and agentic workflows.
• Experience with NoSQL technologies such as Cassandra or MongoDB is beneficial.
