What the role involves

• Managing the full accounts receivable cycle for hospital billing.
• Tracking unpaid and partially paid claims and driving closure.
• Investigating denials and preparing appeals where needed.
• Checking explanation of benefits documents and fixing mismatches or billing discrepancies.
• Coordinating with insurance payers through calls and payer portals.

Skills and system knowledge

• Hands-on experience with billing platforms; EPIC is preferred.
• Working knowledge of payer portals such as Availity, NaviNet, and UHC.
• Ability to check claim status and ERA details.
• Understanding of payer policies and billing guidelines.
• Knowledge of UB-04 forms and field locators.
• Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and modifiers.
• Strong understanding of denial management, claim follow-up, and claim analysis.

Important billing knowledge

• Experience handling DRG downgrades, underpayments, authorization denials, and readmissions.
• Awareness of revenue codes, value codes, and TOBs.
• Understanding of appeal types and appeal levels.

Eligibility criteria

• Applicants should have 1 to 5 years of experience in hospital billing.
• Minimum qualification required is Intermediate or Graduation.
• Graduation is not mandatory.

Compensation
