Role Overview

This full-time, on-site Analyst role in Data Strategy and Analytics is based in Markham and reports to the Manager, Data Strategy & Analytics. The position is centered on supporting business domain data products, analytics solutions, and decision-making across the organization. What You Will Do

  • Help develop domain data products by preparing datasets, supporting semantic models, and building reusable analytical assets.
  • Create Power BI reports and dashboards that present insights clearly and support business decisions.
  • Assist with semantic modeling using star schema principles, dimensional modeling basics, and Fabric-oriented modeling approaches.
  • Use Microsoft Fabric tools such as Dataflows Gen2, Lakehouse, and Warehouse to collect, transform, and organize data for analysis.
  • Apply prompt engineering methods to improve data exploration, documentation, and analytics workflows with AI copilots.
  • Analyze data to uncover trends, patterns, and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather needs and convert them into analytical deliverables.
  • Support governance activities by carrying out data quality checks, maintaining documentation, and updating metadata.
  • Contribute to data storytelling through effective visualizations, summaries, and presentations.
  • Learn from experienced colleagues while developing skills in analytics engineering, semantic modeling, and AI-enabled analytics.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, mathematics, engineering, business analytics, or a closely related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in data analytics, BI development, or a similar role; co-op and internship experience is also acceptable.
  • Practical experience with Power BI, DAX, Power Query, and SQL.
  • Exposure to Azure data technologies or Microsoft Fabric, or a strong readiness to learn them.
  • Basic knowledge of semantic modeling, including star schema and fact/dimension concepts.
  • Interest in or experience with prompt engineering for analytics tasks.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Curious, adaptable, and comfortable working in an agile, team-oriented environment.
