Role overview
The New York State Unified Court System is hiring a Court Analyst (Administrative Assistant) for the Mental Hygiene Legal Service in Nassau County, NY. In this role, you will provide confidential administrative support to the Deputy Chief Attorney’s office.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and prepare court filings for the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, and Court of Appeals.
- Maintain accurate records and updates in the agency case management system (MCMS).
- Compile, assess, and summarize statistical reports and workload information.
- Handle typing, filing, document editing, and correspondence preparation for signature.
- Respond to telephone inquiries and complete travel vouchers in the Statewide Financial System (SFS).
- Manage confidential files, calendars, and records that are sensitive and time-critical for the Deputy Chief Attorney.
- Organize meetings and provide guidance and oversight to MHLS support staff so that MCMS records, files, statistics, and inventory controls are properly maintained.
- Support time and attendance tracking and recordkeeping.
- Oversee supply requisitions.
- Participate in interview panels for support staff hiring.
- Act as a communication link between field offices and the Departmental Office.
- Carry out additional related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Applicants may qualify through one year in the Assistant Court Analyst title; or by holding a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus one year of relevant experience; or by holding a master’s degree in Public Administration or Business Administration from an accredited college or university; or through an equivalent mix of education and experience.
Candidates should be highly proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. The role also requires the ability to work under tight deadlines, strong attention to detail, punctuality, discretion with sensitive matters, and well-developed interpersonal and organizational abilities. Experience with SFS and MCMS is considered an advantage.
Compensation
The base salary is $64,971, plus $4,920 in location pay.
