Role Summary
AECOM is seeking an enthusiastic Urban Planner to join its planning team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This position is suited to someone detail-driven, collaborative, and motivated to help shape sustainable urban environments. You will work with urban designers, architects, engineers, and environmental professionals to support planning outcomes for a range of infrastructure and development assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop planning assessments, due diligence documentation, and development submissions for transport, energy, and infrastructure work while aligning with UAE planning laws and local statutory requirements.
- Carry out research, policy review, and feasibility analysis to guide planning approaches and determine suitable approval routes.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to bring planning inputs into project deliverables and keep outputs aligned across disciplines.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and approving bodies to present planning advice clearly, manage expectations, and respond to concerns professionally.
- Interpret spatial information and apply GIS-based tools to assist with analysis, site review, and planning visualisation.
- Help project managers and senior planners with scheduling, budget awareness, and resource planning so work is delivered on time and within budget.
- Support preparation of fee submissions and project bids by showcasing the value of planning expertise.
- Keep up to date with changes in planning policy, urban design approaches, and sustainability practices relevant to Dubai and the wider UAE.
- Guide and encourage junior colleagues while contributing to a supportive and inclusive team culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, or a related field such as Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Science.
- Between 2 and 4 years of professional experience in urban planning, preferably gained in a planning consultancy or development-focused organization.
