Role overview

Archbold Medical Center is hiring a Transporter for its Central Transportation team in Thomasville, Georgia. This position supports patient movement across the hospital environment and plays an important role in safe, efficient care delivery.

Education and experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. No prior experience is needed for this role.

Core duties

The transporter will assist in moving patients while coordinating closely with nursing teams and other hospital departments. The role requires consistent use of safe patient-handling practices and awareness of the patient’s condition during transport.

Technical knowledge

The job calls for familiarity with oxygen support, IV equipment, and a variety of tubes and dressings so the transporter can move patients safely and appropriately.

Physical and working conditions

This role requires strong physical and mental fitness. The employee must be able to lift, bend, push, and pull with proper body mechanics and without restrictions. Good vision with corrective lenses, hearing support if needed, and clear speaking ability are necessary. The position also requires the ability to wear a properly fitted respiratory protective mask for extended periods. Work may be performed independently or under supervision, depending on the situation, and the environment can be stressful.

Supervision

This position does not supervise others. It reports to the Transport Supervisor and the Nursing Supervisor.
