Team Overview

Reddit is expanding quickly and is hiring across three Ads teams:

Ad Safety & Verification — focused on protecting the ads ecosystem so users have a safe experience and advertisers can trust the platform. This group builds large-scale full-stack products across consumer apps and ads systems, including integrations with brand-safety and verification partners and services that manage tens of millions of requests each day.
Ads Creative Management (ACM) — responsible for the tools advertisers use to build and manage ad creatives, from images and videos to headlines and full post formats. The team works on efficient creative workflows and partners with AI teams to enable smarter content suggestions and automation for faster, higher-quality campaign launches.
Brand Innovation — develops new ad formats that increase reach and brand impact. The team builds awareness-focused experiences, guaranteed placements, and interactive ad products, while evolving existing formats and launching new ones to keep the ads portfolio competitive.

Role Summary

This is a mid-level backend engineering role within the Ads organization. The work is generalist in nature and may include building advertiser-facing services, distributed decisioning systems, interactive ad experiences, measurement systems, and supporting infrastructure.

What the Role Involves

Partner with product managers to shape and deliver Ads products.
Work closely with platform and data teams while developing new features.
Improve reliability and operational health by strengthening code quality, dashboards, and data visualizations.
Create reusable, extensible components aligned to product goals.
Handle day-to-day project coordination, including status communication, schedule tracking, and execution follow-through.

Experience and Working Style

Engineers at this level are expected to learn quickly, absorb engineering best practices, and contribute effectively as part of the team. You should be able to build independently, while collaborating with senior engineers on complex design work. Strong coachability, a genuine interest in coding, and the ability to learn on your own are key traits for success.

Required Qualifications

At least 3 years of software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Java, Scala, Go, C++, or Python.
Ability to take end-to-end ownership of a feature or project.
