Role Overview
The Sealer Manual Application Technician works in the paint shop and specializes in the accurate hand application of paint sealers and structural sealants on automotive body shells. The position is essential for ensuring proper sealing, corrosion resistance, water tightness, noise control, and visual quality in line with OEM standards. The role directly supports vehicle durability, perceived quality, and long-term corrosion protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply seam sealers, hem flange sealers, PVC coatings, anti-chip materials, and NVH products manually on BIW and painted bodies according to OEM requirements and work instructions.
- Achieve the correct bead profile, size, continuity, overlap, and finish in both visible and hidden areas.
- Work within defined sequence and takt time requirements to keep production moving smoothly.
- Operate and care for manual application tools such as pneumatic sealer guns, cartridges, pumps, and hoses.
- Track material condition, including temperature, viscosity, curing window, and pot life, to ensure proper use.
- Carry out visual and tactile checks to confirm complete sealing, strong adhesion, and defect-free application.
- Detect and fix issues such as skips, trapped air, excess material, contamination, and poor surface finish.
- Work closely with Paint Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to address sealing-related problems.
- Observe all EHS rules related to chemical handling, ergonomics, PPE, and ventilation.
- Keep the application area clean, organized, and aligned with 5S expectations.
- Support audit preparation, launch activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Serve as a skilled example for others and help train or guide junior technicians when needed.
Requirements
- Strong practical knowledge of manual seam sealing and PVC application in an automotive paint shop.
- Clear understanding of corrosion protection, water management, and NVH-related needs.
- Ability to read and follow sealing maps and work instructions.
- Hands-on experience with sealer types such as MS polymer, epoxy, polyurethane, and PVC.
- Good ability to spot sealing defects that can affect quality and durability.
- Technical Diploma or Vocational Certification in Automotive, Paint, Mechanical, or Industrial fields.
- 2 to 4 years of direct experience in manual sealer application within an automotive paint shop.
- Proven capability in seam sealing application and repair, PVC application, and NVH material handling.
- Ability to understand OEM work instructions, drawings, and quality standards.
- Physically able to handle repetitive manual work while using required PPE.
- Basic English communication skills; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
