Role overview
Pilgrim’s is hiring a sanitation laborer for its Enterprise, Alabama plant. This is a hands-on, full-time onsite position on the schedule of Sunday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The role is centered on keeping poultry processing spaces clean, safe, and compliant with food safety expectations.
Safety is treated as a non-negotiable priority. The team member in this role will help maintain sanitation standards across equipment, production zones, and facility areas while following detailed procedures and working in a fast-moving environment.
Key duties
- Clean and disinfect production machines, tools, and work areas in line with USDA, food safety, and company sanitation rules.
- Measure, prepare, and use cleaning chemicals safely while following PPE and other safety instructions.
- Check equipment and cleaned areas to confirm they meet sanitation standards and quickly report any problems or hazards.
- Keep the work area orderly by removing waste, rinsing surfaces, and storing tools and chemicals correctly.
- Coordinate with coworkers to finish sanitation tasks efficiently and support a strong safety culture.
- Follow sanitation SOPs along with food safety, safety, and biosecurity requirements.
- Take on additional sanitation work as needed to help production stay ready.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Experience in poultry, food processing, or manufacturing is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work quickly in a fast-paced setting.
- Good communication skills and the ability to understand instructions and apply common sense.
- Strong attention to detail and a team-oriented mindset.
- Must be able to work in refrigerated conditions between 10°F and 40°F.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
Schedule and work conditions
Regular hours are Sunday to Friday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The role may also require weekend work or overtime depending on business needs.
