Project Engineer ROI

Role overview

Sofina Foods Europe is hiring an experienced Project Engineer to lead engineering initiatives across ROI. In this position, you will take charge of planning, coordinating, and delivering projects so they are completed on schedule, within budget, and in line with the required quality and safety standards.

You will work alongside engineers, contractors, and teams from different functions, offering technical direction and project control while encouraging teamwork and innovation at every stage. The role also involves spotting ways to improve processes, increase efficiency, and support long-term business objectives.

This opportunity suits someone who enjoys a dynamic environment, is strong at solving problems, and likes driving projects from early concept through to final delivery. The role is based in Tullamore, Fethard, or Callan, and travel within Ireland is required.

Key responsibilities

• Direct engineering projects from initial concept through to completion, keeping delivery on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
• Work closely with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure clear, consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Use technical expertise, including CAD capability and engineering knowledge, to support project design and implementation.
• Coordinate resources and schedules with Microsoft Project and related tools.
• Prepare accurate reports and project records, while keeping delivery cost-effective and aligned with business priorities.
• Promote continuous improvement and strong working practices across engineering projects.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will be a proven Project Engineer who is organised, detail-focused, and driven by results. You should bring substantial experience in project engineering and project management, along with a record of successful delivery.

Strong technical ability and planning skills are essential, as is a careful approach to detail. A solid background in electrical engineering is required. You should also be confident communicating with people at all levels and handling stakeholder relationships effectively.

Knowledge of project management methods is important, and PMP or PRINCE2 certification would be an advantage. A proactive mindset and a commitment to ongoing improvement, efficiency, and best practice are also key.
